A Ray of Sunshine

BooRiley Productions, a California based production company, has recently released a DVD called ‘Stable Days – the Road to Jumping.’ The production is geared to children interested in horses and riding, and features the then seven year old Araya. BooRiley hopes to make a video series out of the ‘Stable Days’. And I’m told there’s talk of a television series as well.
A few weeks ago I spoke on the phone with Araya and her Mom, Tonya. They live in the Los Angeles area. Tonya, a producer, has been in the Kids Industry for twenty years; formerly with BMG, and now runs BooRiley. Araya, who is now nine, told me she trains with Lisa Fishback at Rancho Tujunga in Sunland, California and wants be ‘a horseback rider’ when she grows up. When I asked who her heroes are, Araya quickly answered that her heroes are her Mom, her younger sister, Avery, and her dogs. She also told me the fact that she and her sister are home schooled allows her the time to pursue her riding goals two days a week. Though she doesn’t have her own horse, the stable provides several for her to work with; Obie, Remington, and Jimmy Mack.
Apart from riding, Araya pursues an acting and a modeling career; is designing t-shirts for the benefit of horse rescue; and co-wrote the script for ‘Stable Days’ as well. A very busy little girl! Mom Tonya exudes about Araya’s gifts; her love of animals; her sunny personality; her connection to the horses; and, when I didn’t quite pronounce her daughter’s name correctly, suggested that I think of it as being spoken as, ‘a ray of sunshine.’ Tonya feels that Araya’s video and website fill a niche in the equine marketplace that was wanting.
From the recent press release, ‘Stable Days – The Road to Jumping features three fun filled episodes; Meet My Barn Friends, It’s Time to Jump and It’s Show Time. In this delightful DVD series you will encounter Araya’s stable mates, learn fun facts, meet her trainer and get a first hand look at what it takes to care for a horse, train endlessly and prepare for show day. This unique DVD teaches life long lessons of dedication, determination and discipline all from a kid’s point of view.’
The DVD is currently available on Araya’s website, http://www.stabledays.net and through TuffRider™ JPC Equestrian catalogs and stores. On the Stable Days website you will also find Araya’s Blog, where she hopes kids nationwide will want to share their riding experiences and photos, along with a selection of other equestrian related products for sale, including books, riding togs, and horse paraphernalia.
