Hi Horse Pals,
This weeks' horse is the well known Percheron.
PERCHERON
Fact #1: Originally from the La Perche district of Normandy, France, the Percheron is one of the most popular draft horses and is found world wide.
Fact #2: One of the tallest horses on record was a Percheron named Dr. Le Gear. He was foaled in 1902, stood 21 hands and weighed 2,995 pounds!
Fact #3: They can stand between 15.2 and 19 hands, can weigh up to 2,600 pounds and are typically come in black and gray.
Fact #4: The versatile Percheron has been used as a warhorse, for draft and farm work and also as a riding horse.
Fact #5: For a heavy horse, they have grace and freedom of movement, and amazing stamina, being able to travel in trot, on average, an incredible 35 miles a day!
I hope you love the Percheron as much as I do. Some say they may have existed since the Ice Age! Wow!
Here Is a clue for next weeks' horse: it is named after a person.
Good Luck!
Your Horse Pal,
@raya

Hi Elizabeth ~
I just found this comment from you today! We actually thought you were already on your horse trip! Wow! That's so cool you went to Utah to ski ... our trainer loves to ski! We've had a ton of rain the past week and we think there will be snow close to the barn.
Yeah, it is great we have some new Horse Pals! Say hi to your sisters from Avery and I and we hope to hear from you again soon,
Your Horse Pal,
@raya

Sorry I have not been writing! We went to Utah to skii for three days, and traveled back and forth for two days. It was soooo much fun! We might go to the barn sometime this weekend, so we can take some pictures of us jumping then. I need to exercise snickers before he leaves for the show grounds in mississippi. Write back soon!
Happy Trails,
Elizabeth
P.S. It is so great that we have some new members!

Hi Girls ~
We love playing everything horse, too! Sometimes we pretend we're horses and make up jump courses in our house and play horse show.
Another thing we love to do on horseback is play follow the leader and one person leads and whatever they do (walk, trot canter, etc.) the other riders follow. We love playing that on the weekends when our rider friends are at the stable.
Thanks for sending us the video clip of you jumping, Elizabeth! You and Snickers look great - he's adorable. We look forward to photos we can share on the blog with all of our Horse Pals.
Happy trails,
@raya and Avery

Hi Araya and Avery ~
We all love horses and they have always been special to us. In our spare time, we love to play breyer horses and make jumps for them. We also love to play horse show in the ring at our barn. Snickers is 10 or 11. We are not sure of his birthday, because the owner never told us. We are all doing great, and so are our ponies! Snickers, Rue, Luke, you rule!
happy trails,
Elizabeth, Kitty, and Mia

Hi Elizabeth ~
How are you doing? I can't wait to see your photos! That is a great story about how you found Snickers!
It's actually a really great story how Dandy and I found each other. She was boarding at our barn and was abandoned by her owner and the owner of the barn and my trainer thought it would be a perfect horse for me. And she is!! The first day I rode her I knew she was perfect for me. And I have enjoyed riding her ever since.
How old is Snickers and when is his b-day? Dandy's b-day is May 10th. What do you like to do when your are not horseback riding? How are your sis's and their ponies? Dandy says hi! He He!
Your Horse Pal,
@raya
P.S. If you or your sis's have any animal poems or stories, you can E-mail them to me and I will put them on the blog.

Araya~
My trainer found Snickers for me. He knew someone who had a pony for sale, and I was looking to buy one. It was then that they found my dream pony,
Snickers. His owners just put him out to paster and did not ride him at all, unless they entering in a show. Can you believe it?! We were so lucky he did not founder, I am sooo glad he is healthy now. When we got him he had a head shaking problem, and it turned out that the only cause was that the owners did not take care of his teeth! I am going to guess either the Morgan or Prezawalski's horse.
happy trails,
Elizabeth
P.S. we will try to send some pictures of us jumping
P.S.S. How did you find Dandy?
